The residents have access to the following equipment (some equipment may involve an additional cost to the resident):

  • equipment necessary to assist with transferring (i.e. lifts).
  • equipment necessary to prevent skin breakdown (i.e. special mattresses).
  • equipment necessary provided by an occupational therapist to enhance independence and quality of life. (i.e. special utensils).

3. What types of activities are available for residents?
A variety of programs are offered on a monthly basis to accommodate all preferences. Programs run regularly include mind bender, baking, green thumb, crafts, bridge, manicures, scrabble, knitter's nook, bingo, music therapy, concerts, choir, intergenerational programs, humane society visits, special events (birthday parties, dinner and a movie, etc.), holiday programs (Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, etc.). Activities are adapted to meet residents' capabilities.

4. Do residents participate in physical activities?
A chair exercise program, Fun & Fit, takes place twice a week. Other physical programs include: carpet bowling, darts and bean bags, which are offered by the Life Enrichment Department.

In addition the Physiotherapist hosts strength exercise classes for residents who meet the criteria to participate in this program. The Physiotherapist assesses all residents upon admission for their need for Physiotherapy. Currently these services are provided, funded by OHIP, the average is two visits a week.

5. How often do residents receive baths or showers?
All residents are offered a minimum of 2 baths or showers per week.

6. Do you offer overnight stay for out-of-town family members?
We have a cot that is available for family members to use if their loved one is ill or palliative. Currently, we do not have a guest room available.

7. Do you offer a day program to the community?
We do not offer a day program to the community, as we are not funded to do so.

8. Do you share areas of your building with the community for other functions?
Occasionally community organizations use our Community Room, upon approval of the Executive Director - particularly for education seminars or events of benefit to the staff and residents. Cost for room bookings is determined on a case-by-case basis.
