Special Events “Light Up the Grace” is our largest fundraiser of the year. This event takes place at the beginning of December each year when we host a Christmas celebration and turn on the Christmas lights on the building. Although this is our largest fundraiser donations are necessary throughout the whole year. In Memoriam donations There comes a time in our lives when we must face the loss of a loved member of our family. It is also a time for celebrating the “life lived”, highlighting the passions, love, accomplishments and contributions of the deceased. Every person leaves a unique mark on this world as they pass through it. The Grace Manor offers family and friends the opportunity to honour the memory of loved ones through an In Memoriam gift. These gifts may be made through the Grace Manor or the funeral home and are used to ensure the Grace Manor can deliver the excellent level of care our residents deserve. A letter will also be sent to the family acknowledging the In Memoriam donation. Tribute Gifts Donations can be made in memory of a loved one or to celebrate an important event such as a birthday or anniversary. Cash donations and Gifts in Kind Cash donations and gifts in kind are accepted at the Salvation Army Grace Manor. Donations may be made by cheque through the mail, by cash in person, or by credit card. You can make a donation by credit card by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY and specifying “The Ottawa Grace Manor”. We provide an official tax receipt for income tax purposes for gifts of $10 and more. To donate ‘online’ by credit card please click on the Salvation Army Red Shield above to be linked to the general Salvation Army website. Follow the instructions provided and don’t forget to specify the Ottawa Grace Manor on the drop down menu. Planned Gifts Planned Gifts are generally funded from a donor’s assets rather than current income. The easiest and most common form of planned gifts is a bequest made through a Will. The donor’s estate receives major tax benefits from a charitable bequest. Through its parent organization, The Salvation Army, Ottawa Grace Manor is eligible to receive several forms of planned gifts. Other types of planned gifts which will benefit the Grace Manor are:
The exact wording of a bequest is very important. Please contact Karen Flynn, Gift Planner at 613.233.8428 ext 225 for bequest wording or more information on these or other types of planned gifts. Your plan to make a gift in the future will help the Grace Manor continue its vital mission to care for, unconditionally, all individuals requiring Long Term Care services with dignity and compassion. Help us provide a level of care that has traditionally exceeded the level required by government regulation. Planned gifts received will help us enhance the quality of life and comfort of our residents. If you are considering a bequest or other planned gift, we strongly recommend that you speak with your family before making a final decision and seek legal and financial advice from your own advisors. Our professional staff is not able to provide specific legal or financial advice to donors. Please let us know if you already included the Salvation Army Grace Manor in your Will. We would like to thank you and welcome you as a member of a special group of people, the “Circle of Hope”. This is our way of recognizing and thanking those who have made a commitment to ensure the best residential care for seniors …. from generation to generation. All information will be kept confidential because your privacy is important to us.
